ICOIA aims to consolidate and provide an updated database of all special opportunities and exemptions offered to Iranian international student applicants, such as admission fee waivers, special scholarships, or transcript requirement exemptions.
We invite all academics to share the opportunities with us in their university and/or encourage and liaise with their university to offer help.
If you are a faculty member abroad, and you would like to support the Iranian at-risk students/scholars, please fill out the form below.
Your help could be in the form of offering mentorship, scholarship, RA part-time job, or hosting a visiting Iranian scholar.
ICOIA will share the information collected through the form below with the impacted students/scholars to assist them in continuing their studies or research career.
A growing number of Iranian students are being suspended or expelled due to widespread protests across Iranian universities since September 2022. The ICOIA is working to identify and link suspended and expelled students with volunteer Iranian academics around the world to work on joint education and/or research projects. This will empower the students and provide them with unique and valuable international education and research experience. If you are a student that has been suspended or expelled from your university program, please get in touch.
ICOIA can provide support letter for Iranian scholars who have lost their job and safety of life for speaking out. We may be able to make recommendations to the international organisations who provide tailored support for scholars at risks, conditioned on the evidence provided to us.
University students are on the front line of the Women, Life, Freedom uprising in Iran. Many students have been harshly targeted by the Islamic Republic’s officials and university administrators. ICOIA intends to foster human rights conditions in Iran’s universities by monitoring, reporting, and collecting evidence of such violations. We invite students, faculty, and staff to submit any case of human rights violations along with the proper documentation through our website. ICOIA will prepare a comprehensive report from the submitted cases and will share this with human rights organizations, including the UN Human Rights Council.
The ICOIA will act as a consultant and peer reviewer for the Mardom Foundation. Freedom of information as a basic human right is high on our agenda, woven into the raison d'etre behind establishing the ICOIA. Mardom Foundation is a newly established group of volunteers, whose aims and objectives revolve around raising awareness through the collection and sharing of reliable data and information on Iran, to advance the transition to democracy. The collaboration with the Mardom Foundation includes providing feedback on survey design, sampling, data analysis methods, and peer review of the outputs to enhance their accuracy and validity. The collaboration is expected to provide a clearer picture of the current situation in Iran and to increase awareness about enablers, barriers and requirements of a smooth transition to democracy in Iran.
